Nutrition Week is a National campaign conducted by Nutrition Australia annually. The aim of National Nutrition Week is to raise the awareness of the importance of healthy eating for optimal health in the community. Nutrition Australia has adopted the 5 year theme of ‘Falling in Love with Food’. Nutrition Week enjoys the support of a multitude of government organisations and non-government organizations. Traditional fundraising activities include chocolate drives, lamington drives, cake stalls, sausage sizzles and money raised from vending machines.

Many Australian communities are now experiencing the chill of winter so its time to bring out the soup recipes to both warm and nourish the body. Pumpkin is an excellent source of vitamin A and C, a useful source of dietary fibre, and knowing that a whole kilo of pumpkin will supply you with only about 510kJ (120 calories) then it wont matter if you go back for seconds for a bowl of this pumpkin soup!
